Definition

 

We understand Social Accountability to mean awareness of, and willingness to appropriately integrate into our operations, the current and emerging social concerns and priorities expressed by various stakeholders (community, employees, governmental and non-governmental organizations, management and owners). 

 

We will demonstrate our social accountability through our commitment to:

 

• Willing compliance with all employment, health, food safety, workplace safety and environmental Laws;

• Respect for basic civil and human rights;

• Direct and indirect contribution to building better futures for the wider community. 

 

Legal Compliance

 

Karmer Pty Ltd will, at all times:

• Ensure that all our business operations are legitimate, and;

Protecting the Environment 

 

We recognise that the natural environment needs to be prioritised because a clean and properly functioning environment supports and benefits everyone.

Proactive Initiatives

 

Donations and Aid 

 

We will allocate funds for charitable donations in our annual budget. We will support a wide spectrum of community groups, but in particular, those focused on providing support, encouragement and opportunities for disadvantaged children and people who are otherwise unable to support themselves. Our current major financial support programs assist several child health research programs and provide social worker help for homeless people.

 

Where possible, we will make sure that the business inputs and services we use are sourced from organisations/suppliers whose operations provide social and/or community benefit.

 

Volunteering 

 

We will encourage all team members to freely assist the works of community-support organisations and will support the efforts of other volunteer-driven organizations.

 

Preserving the Environment 

 

Over and above any legal obligations, our company will proactively protect and preserve the environment by, for example: 

 

• Recycling;

• Conserving energy;

• Supporting community groups focussed on environmental preservation, and;

• Using environmentally friendly technologies and materials.

 

Supporting the Community 

 

Our company may initiate and support community investment and educational programs. It can provide support to non-profit organisations or movements to promote cultural and economic development of global and local communities.
