Before launching The Green Room, within the precincts of Southern Cross University's Gold Coast campus, Chris honed his hospitality skills in the bustling environment of his parents' burger cafe, a stone's throw from the uni and a popular haunt for staff and students alike.
Seizing the opportunity presented by SCU to establish an on-campus eatery, Chris and his wife, Taylor, eagerly embraced this new venture, and The Green Room was born! They've been the go-to duo for satisfying hunger pangs and fuelling caffeine fixes for the university community ever since.
Since opening their doors, Chris and Taylor celebrated another birth with their daughter, Piper, joining the family in 2021, making it a true family affair.
We have worked shoulder-to-shoulder for over 5 years. While work is always in the back of our minds, we know how to relax and enjoy life outside of the cafe. Family camping trips in our pop-up camper, Sandy, is when we are most separated from the cafe.
We love going down the beach and having a surf or take the tinny out on the mighty Tweed River and have a fish.
When we were in the hospital having our daughter, Piper, we knew about 70% of the midwives. We had made coffees for most of them every day throughout their uni degree. We were in there a little longer than expected and were humbled by how we were treated.
The Uni went completely online for a year when Covid happened. We were lucky to make it through that period.
We have original artwork inside the cafe that sets the mood.
