Hands Across The Water, a charity dedicated to raising funds to build homes and support underprivileged and orphaned children in Thailand, was founded by Peter Baines in 2005 after he personally witnessed the devastation, as a first responder, of the Boxing Day Tsunami that struck Thailand.
Since it's inception in 2014, business coach and entrepreneur Dale Beaumont has brought together a peloton of small business owners from the Business Blueprint community to participate in Hands Across the Water's annual Ride to Provide challenge.
The ride involves a 500km cycling trip over five das in various parts of Thailand to raise funds to help keep the Hands Group's home, Home Hug, open to support underprivileged children.
Martin and Melissa joined their first ride in 2022 from Bueng Kan to Yasothon, where the team collectively raised more than $400,000. About 18 months later, Martin was back in the saddle riding another 500km in 5 days across the Thailand peninsula to Khao Lak – the site of the first Hands home, Baan Tharn Namchai. Melissa spent the week helping out at the home and preparing for the arrival of the 70+ riders. The riders and volunteers raised a little shy of $400,000, taking Blueprint’s total funds raised to well past $2 million!
