Proud new partners
Bondi Chai Latte is 'popping up' in all kinds of places these days - from Mt Beauty in Victoria, to Mt Barker in WA and from Dover in Tassie to Cairns in Qld. Along the way we've forged some great partnerships with some terrific people. We're particularly proud of a few businesses we now call partners in Sydney, including...
Vivo Cafe - a collection of three of the best cafes in Sydney, all in George St and all operated by the current Telstra Small Business Woman of the Year, Angela Vithoulkas. Be sure to drop in for a Bondi Chai when you're in Sydney.
We're also very proud of our association with the people at perhaps the most exciting health and lifestyle club in Australia - V Club. The first V Club is now booming in Druitt St, Sydney, and is the forerunner of many, many more around Australia. Bondi Chai is available to members and guests at V Club.
And finally we're very proud to announce that Bondi Chai is now available at Harris Farm Markets - voted the best grocers in Sydney and with a reputation most businesses would die for! Bondi Chai is currently available in the St Ives, Manly, Mosman and Broadway stores with others planned in the near future.
It's Showtime!
The 'show season' is now well and truly under way for foodies and if you're in Melbourne or Sydney over the next several weeks we hope you'll call by our stands at the Good Food and Wine Festival in Melbourne (May 30, 31 and June 1) and Sydney (June 20-22). I hear Gordon Ramsay's been such a big drawcard that all tickets to his 'shows' have been sold out in both Melbourne and Sydney!
If you can't make it to those, how about the Aroma Festival at the Rocks in Sydney on July 6 - from all reports it's going to be another massive crowd - hopefully you won't need your umbrella this year, and we promise not to run out of stock...
...which we almost did at this year's Royal Easter Show in Sydney. After 14 exhausting days we had dispensed more than 70,000 samples and sold pallets of product to some of the biggest crowds we've ever seen - and they told us this year's show was about 200,000 people down on usual numbers! We've been invited back next year - but we'll be better prepared for the onslaught. We should also mention our first appearance at the RES saw us win the Bronze Commercial Exhibitors Award - which we were absolutely rapt with! And finally, the RES turned up another 'celeb fan' of Bondi Chai... Ricky Lee stopped by for a chat and took away a pack of Vanilla Honey after sampling it and 'falling in love' all over again.
We're having a blast - hope you are too!
If you've been among the more than 200,000 people who have been at the two Domain concerts for this year's Sydney Festival, then it's likely we've talked at our stand already. If you're yet to get out to the Domain, this Saturday (Jan. 19) is your last chance to plug into the Sydney Festival's free concerts for 2008. And if the Symphony Under The Stars lives up to its reputation - we recommend you get there early!
For a preview of the event and all the other events at the Festival, follow this link, and when you're at the concert, come by our stand and say hello.
They came, they tasted,
and we sold out - again!
Seven thousand samples in 7 hours. That's 1000 samples an hour or 16 samples each and every minute. And that's what our team handed out at the Aroma Festival at Sydney's famous Rocks last Sunday. The crowd was reputed to be 100,000 strong - we believe it! By 3 pm we had sold out of product - and still they came! Among the throng Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban slid quietly up to our stand for a sample - delcaring Club Cinnamon to be their fave before slipping quietly back into the crowd and leaving our highly professional team standing slack-mouthed and eyes agog.
The crowd also included a good smattering of cafe owners who are now making regular contact to include Bondi Chai on their menu. So look out Sydney - Bondi Chai has arrived!
For all you foodies in Sydney...
Bondi Chai will be at this year's Aroma Festival at The Rocks in Sydney on Sunday, July 22. It's our first appearance in this hugely popular event and we're really looking forward to introducing our product to the more than 90,000 people who apparently visit each year. We'll be busy, but please say hello anyway.
and for all you Perth foodies...
The Western Australian Wine and Food Festival is your next chance to sample Bondi Chai.
This annual event is growing in popularity with each event so our advice would be to get there early.
The Festival is on at the Perth Convention Centre, July 6, 7 and 8.
Get along to the Rubra Tea and Coffee Merchants stand at the Festival and say hi to Allan and his team. And if you tell them we sent you, they might even have a special treat for you!
Two down - lots more to go!
If you're one of the 14,000+ samplers we 'met' at either the Melbourne or Sydney Good Food & Wine Shows in June, thanks for calling by. We hope you're enjoying your Bondi Chai and have found a supplier near you who can feed your new addiction. If not, please drop us an email and we'll fix that for you. And thanks to all of you who participated in the Beverage Bar demonstrations with Liquid Kitchen. The lucky ones got to taste one of Woody's Bondi Icebergs (in the newly-released Curtis Stone glassware) which looked as good as they tasted! In the next five months Bondi Chai will be on show at the
- The WA Wine and Food Festival in Perth;
- The Aroma Festival at The Rocks, in Sydney;
- the Tasmanian Trade Fair
in Tassie;
- Gluten Free Shows in Melbourne and Sydney;
- The Lifestyle Australia Expo in Marina Square, Singapore;
- Restaurant 07 in Sydney;
- The Taste of Australia in Adelaide, and;
- The last GFWS for the year at Southbank in Bris-vegas.
Hope to see you at one of them.
They're on again - see you in Melbourne (or Sydney, or Brisbane!)
Two of the biggest consumer food shows in the country are about to kick off again - and Bondi Chai will be there.
The Good Food and Wine Shows in Melbourne (June 1-3) and Sydney (June 15-17) are well up there on the "most fun you can have standing up" list. Free samples, free smiles and great bargains are the order of the day, and this year we also have something very special for you.
Look out for the "Beverage Bar" where Hayden "Woody" Wood (www.theliquidkitchen.com)
will have a few Bondi Chai surprises for you. And if you can't get a sample of Bondi Chai at our stand because it's too crowded, don't despair - you can get a free taste at The Liquid Kitchen's stand where they will also be offering free tastings. And the good folks of Queensland won't miss out either - we'll be back your way in November.
Kelly's cancer research push raised $3500+!
We've just heard from Kelly Rendell in South Australia that her fund raising efforts to help Women's Cancer Research at the The Cancer Council of Australia was a great success with more than $3500 being raised on the night. We were happy to play a small part in the event and would like to add our congratulations to Kelly and her team for such a fantastic result. You can see how much fun everyone obviously had on the night at this link: www.3raise.net and no doubt there are other events ahead after the success of this one.
They came, they saw, we sold out!
Bondi Chai's inaugural appearance at Feast Perth in late March was a roaring success. It was estimated that more than 10,000 people visited this one day food extravaganza and while temperatures soared the team at the Bondi Chai stand didn't have time to feel the heat - they were too busy sampling/selling product. In fact, they sold out! Apologies to those people who missed out, but we will return. Meantime, look out for Bondi Chai in the cafes and delis of Perth, and if you can't find it at your local cafe, send them to us and we'll fix the problem!
Singapore didn't know what hit it!!
Bondi Chai was a great success at the RSVP Australia exhibition in Singapore.
More than 80% of the Singaporeans we spoke with during the the event purchased a bag of Bondi Chai after just one taste! And the good news is that we were able to provide for their future needs through the Oh Family's ambitious new venture in East Coast Rd - Oh Deli. This fabulous deli specialises in premium Australian product - and now includes Bondi Chai! So if you're looking for supplies of Bondi Chai in Singapore, Oh Deli's the place to go. (Click here for contact details)
Singapore won't know what hit it!
From March 9 to March 18, Tourism Australia mounts a major Australian tourism promotion in Singapore - RSVP Australia - and Bondi Chai will be there.
BC will represent Australia's famous cafe culture in an exhibition of Australian lifestyle and culture designed to tempt Singaporeans to visit. Several events are planned, including the 10-day expo in which BC will feature at the famous Raffles City complex.
If you're reading this in Singapore - or if you'll be in this wonderful city at the time - come and say hi (and if you mention that you read this article, you might even score a free chai!)
FEAST on Bondi Chai in Perth
If you're in Perth on Sunday, March 18, why not visit one of Perth's 'great days out' at Feast Perth, Victoria Gardens, Claisebrook Cove in East Perth. A full day of feasting on local produce and fine food - washed down with Bondi Chai Latte, of course.
Great GLUTEN news!
After official testing of our product, we can now declare Bondi Chai Latte - both varieties - gluten free and therefore no problem for gluten intolerant customers.
Which is great news for all those people who were erring on the side of caution - you too can now safely become a 'Bondi Chai addict'. By the way, Bondi Chai is also low-fat, low caffeine, Halal Certified and contains no Trans-Fatty Acids.
GFWS - 07
Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane
Bondi Chai will be there again in 07!
We will be at all three GFWS - at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from June 1-3; at the Sydney Exhibition Centre from June 15-17 and at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre from November 9-11.
So come and say 'G'day' - we look forward to sharing Bondi Chai samples with you all.
Melbourne Good Food and Wine Show
16 - 18 June, 2006
Melbourne 06
This show is reputed to be one of the biggest food events in Australia – and after being at this year’s event, the Bondi Chai team can vouch for that! It’s enormous.
The BC team gave out more than 7000 samples of Bondi Chai Latte and sold a truck-load of retail stock to a constant stream of humanity that flooded by over the three days of the Show. It was a roaring success.
We were there, too, at the Good Food & Wine Show at Brisbane’s Exhibition Centre in Southbank on November 10-12.
And shoppers in Brisbane's Queen St Mall thought all their Christmases had come at once when they were given the opportunity to sample Bondi Chai Latte and Chillers on Saturday, November 4, where we were helping to promote the GF&WS.
From whence we came..
Bondi Chai was launched in May/June, 2005, after extensive research and observation of world-wide food and beverage trends. Reports such as the Queensland Government's Attitude Bites influenced our thinking strongly. Though it was authored in 2003, Bondi Chai has certainly proven the accuracy of its predictions and observations.
